Experience:
Unreal Engine 4 Hobbyist (Since 2019)
Focused on Technical Art (VFX, Niagara, Postprocessing), GUI (Widgets, Interactive Systems, Dialogue), and Systems-Based Gameplay (Element-based Damage, Equippable and Upgradable Items and Abilities, etc)
Game Jam Projects:
BOOP (2020)
Created for the 7-day long “Bored Pixels Jam 7” on itch.io. The jam was pixel art themed, with the challenge being to create a game with “One Ability”. I used Unreal Engine 4 and leveraged a variety of post-processing render features, creating a pixelated 3D game that was performant and good-looking. You play as a ball, and your only ability is to “boop” cubes that spawn into the world using the Space Bar. As you boop more cubes, your ability is upgraded again and again, until you are zipping around the randomly-generated map in seconds using chain-boops and larger attacks performed by holding the Space Bar.
For this project, I won 2nd place in the game jam through user and player voting, with a 1st place commendation for art and presentation. It is my first published game entirely made by myself, after just 6 months of learning Unreal Engine 4.

SILLY SOCCER (2021)
Created for the 2-day long “GMTK Game Jam 2021” on itch.io organized by Mark Brown of Game Maker’s ToolKit. I had originally planned to collaborate with a team for this jam, but was unable to be present much for the first 30 hours of the 48 hour jam. I recused myself from the team and began putting together my own project as fast as possible. In just under 12 hours, I created a game called “Silly Soccer” about a hedgehog tied to a soccer ball. The theme for this jam was “Joined Together” and I took it rather literally.
Overall I’m pretty happy with a project that felt so chaotic to create, and while I don’t think I’ll ever put myself through an all-nighter like that again, it was a super fun experience.

Hamsino (2022)
Created for the 2-day long “GMTK Game Jam 2022” on itch.io organized by Mark Brown of Game Maker’s ToolKit. This project was made in collaboration with two of my good friends, game developer MorganLaK and artist/Youtuber JayTheDevGuy. The theme of 2022’s jam was “Roll The Dice,” so naturally we created a hamster who frantically kicks and headbutts dice into tubes. With movement and attacks inspired by Super Smash Bros. and a dynamic animated crowd reacting to your gameplay, we strived for new ideas and quirks that we’d never done before. While it might not be the easiest game, it’s still very fun and is one of the more polished experiences we’ve put out as a group.
